Described by Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney as, “one of the smartest and hardest working young people I know,” Rich Lazer is the son of working parents from a union home. He is a long-time activist who served as Kenney’s Deputy Mayor for Labor — where he was widely recognized for his effectiveness in negotiating fair and equitable contracts and advocating for more inclusion of people of color in the building trades.
Rich has been an activist since an early age — starting at 13 when he organized clean up efforts to revitalize his local Burke playground in South Philadelphia — now a hub of local recreation and a place of pride for the surrounding neighborhood.
Rich recently resigned his position as Deputy Mayor to take his record of getting things done to Washington as he fights for Pennsylvanians in the 5th Congressional District. Join our team!
